Freight Brokerage in Practice

One-day practical workshop for MBA Logistics & Supply Chain Management students.

Delivered by ViaMax Solutions Ltd using BusinessBook ERP — Freight Broker. Participants work through a realistic brokerage workflow using simulated shipper and carrier/haulier conversations.

The working sequence

From conversation to customer invoice.

The workshop follows the same connected sequence used to understand the practical role of a freight broker: capture accurate information, coordinate the movement and keep the commercial record clear.

01

Extract the shipment brief

Review the shipper conversation, capture the shipment details and identify information that is missing or needs clarification.

02

Create the customer record

Add the customer and organise the relevant contacts so that the commercial conversation has a reliable starting point.

03

Build the Address Book

Add pickup and delivery addresses, location contacts and the information needed to coordinate the movement.

04

Add the carrier or haulier

Review the carrier conversation and create the carrier record with equipment and operating information.

05

Prepare the customer quotation

Turn the shipment requirement into a customer quote and consider the relationship between price, cost and margin.

06

Create and assign the load

Create the load, record pickup and delivery details, assign the carrier and coordinate the operational handoff.

07

Prepare the rate confirmation

Prepare the carrier-facing rate confirmation so the agreed movement and commercial terms are documented.

08

Generate the Bill of Lading

Generate the BOL record and connect the shipment documentation to the load.

09

Record status updates

Record shipment milestones and status updates so that the operational record remains traceable.

10

Create the customer invoice

Complete the workflow by creating the customer invoice and reviewing the resulting commercial record.
